The Winfield Wolverines will offer full time travel softball teams in 2017 at 12U, 14U & 16U levels. Open try-outs will be conducted in August (see below). A light training schedule to include a few practices and games may occur in the fall. Training will commence in earnest after the first of the year. Player’s eligibility is determined based on age as of January 1, 2017.
Please bring all necessary equipment (glove, cleats, bat, helmet, batting gloves, sliding pad).
The full time travel Wolverines program requires a time, effort and financial commitment. It is critical that you be able to attend the practices, games and tournaments. If selected to the team, the program cost is $450. This will cover winter training, uniforms, and league/tournament entry fees. The fee is due within 3 days of acceptance to the team.
We recognize that tryout time is an emotional time and that not every participant will be selected to a team. Wolverines strive to make the tryout process as objective and fair as possible. Selection to a team is based on performance at the tryouts, as judged by a panel of coaches, review with Wolverine Commission, Winfield In Action (WIA) and Winfield Park District. Players are selected by the commission based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, performance level, commitment, ability, effort and attitude. Participants will be notified once all approvals are met. This process takes ~ 1 week. Teams abide by the Winfield Park District Residency Policy for Travel Teams which requires a minimum number of Winfield residents on teams. All other spots on the teams are open to residents of any town.
Tryout Dates & Locations:
12U tryouts are Saturday, 8/6/16 from 9:00-11:30 at East Street #1
14U tryouts are Saturday, 8/6/16 from 12:00-2:30 at East Street #1
16U tryouts are Saturday, 8/6/16 from 3:00-5:30 at East Street #1
East Street is located at the corner of East Street and Sunnyside Rd, Winfield, IL 60190
In the event of rain, tryouts will be held on 8/7/16 at the same times and location

In the event that you cannot make the dates listed above, an alternate tryout for all levels will be held on 8/10 from 6:00-8:00 at East Street #1.
